Education

PhD, Physics, University of North Texas; MSc and BSc, University of Tehran

I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. I studied Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Tehran. After finishing my Bachelor of Science with honoree rank, I started my Master of Science in Nuclear Physics at the same university. Subsequently, I traveled to the US and earned a PhD in Atomic Physics from the University of North Texas, where I studied how to precisely measure the size of helium isotopes using atomic techniques.

After graduation, I went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center before joining Memorial Sloan Kettering. My research interests include novel treatment techniques in brachytherapy and automation, motion management and tracking in radiation therapy, and realistic models to study the dose response in stereotactic body radiotherapy.
